More than nine lakh beneficiaries got their 3rd dose of the Covid vaccine on the very first day of the ‘Precaution Dose’ vaccination drive. This was provided to the frontline workers, healthcare workers, and 60+ individuals began on Monday all across the country.
“The 1st day of ‘Precaution Dose’ for the identified beneficiaries for the Covid vaccination today, at least more than 9 lakh doses were administered to the age group which is eligible,” the Union Health Ministry informed on Monday.
Prior to the day, Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya said in a tweet, “The program for managing the ‘Precautionary measure Dose’ on the guidance of specialists to medical services and frontline healthcare workers and individuals of 60+ age is beginning from today the nation over”.
The CoWIn platform on the principal day sent more than one crore updates messages to the recipients to get the ‘Precautionary measure Dose’. The web based booking of arrangements for doses through the CoWIN portal began from Saturday. The service had explained that there would be no requirement for new enrollment for the ‘Precautionary Dose’.
