ADMH Healthcare Summit 2020 on ‘Global Healthcare Market Outlook 2020 Post-Pandemic’ was held on 16th December 2020.
The virtual event examined how important it is for the Healthcare industry to harness the power of innovation to ensure the industry emerges stronger in what will be a fast-paced, volatile future of the post-pandemic era.
In his keynote address, Dr Subhajit Mazumder, Director – Strategic Growth Microsoft India began with a quote by Microsoft CEO, Satya Nadella, that at the onset of the pandemic “We saw two years of digital transformation in two months”.
Mazumdar added that every sector, particularly healthcare, saw an acceleration of digitization because of the need brought on by the pandemic, saying, “I don’t think healthcare will ever go back to the pre-pandemic time. It is truly going to be omnichannel. Healthcare will become integrated with technology and the benefits will be manifold.”
The panel comprised of Dr Amit Garg, Director Medical Affairs, Clinical Affairs, and Strategy Planning, Terumo India Private Limited, Dr Kiran Rukdikar, Founder & Medical Director, LIVEN Healthcare, Mumbai, Dr Sukriti Bhalla, Interventional cardiologist & Associate Consultant Cardiology, Aakash Healthcare Super Speciality Hospital, Dwarka, Prateem Tamboli, CEO, Geetanjali Medical College & Hospital, and Sonali Deshmukh, Vice President, OHUM Healthcare Solutions. The discussion was moderated by Swapnil Jain, CEO, ORAI Robotics.
Dr Amit Garg, Director Medical Affairs, Clinical Affairs and Strategy Planning, Terumo India Private Limited commented, “Instead of product-centric, we have become more industry-centric. Having a digitally connected solution is absolutely critical. Now the rules of the game have changed”.
Adding to the discussion, Prateem Tamboli, CEO, Geetanjali Medical College & Hospital said, “There have been a lot of kneejerk reactions during the pandemic. From a traditional way of marketing such as print and television, it has become digital”.
Dr Sukriti Bhalla, Interventional cardiologist & Associate Consultant Cardiology pointed out that, “The healthcare industry has gone through a major change because the pandemic. It has broadened the scope of technology in the healthcare system”.
Bhalla remarked that because of the pandemic there has been a rise in the use of Artificial Intelligence and virtual OPDs. She also said that there needs to be more awareness through programmes about the various virtual platforms available.
Dr Kiran Rukdikar, Founder & Medical Director, LIVEN Healthcare, Mumbai pointed out, “There are immense opportunities in mobile marketing and we have been able to reach many of our patients through this.
Sharing her thoughts to the discussion, Sonali Deshmukh, Vice President, OHUM Healthcare Solutions commented, “The Healthcare industry is evolving; now it will become more patient-centric. We need to have a standardised healthcare solution like other countries in the world, and the government is working towards this”.
The panel agreed that the healthcare industry has experienced many changes due to the pandemic, especially in terms of operations and management of hospitals. Online healthcare marketing and patient care will take centre-stage in the post-pandemic world. It, therefore, becomes very important to combine personalisation and automation through a patient-centric approach.
